Uncomfortable Oxford

Uncomfortable Oxford is an academic-led social enterprise that develops events and resources to create discussions about complex issues in the past and the present, with a particular focus on contested memories and heritage.  It uses discussion-based walking tours (both in presence and virtual) as a unique and invaluable instrument for locating discussions of empire, race, class and gender into the physical makeup of Oxford. Uncomfortable Oxford's website also offers a wide range of free resources, from podcasts and research-based blogs articles, to teaching plans and activities focusing on Oxford's local histories. Each month, they host public events such as lectures and panels on a range of topics, in order to foster debate while cultivating a safe environment for exchange and participatory learning.
